Below are a few pictures of my car in the fall/winter of 03-04. I moved to a new house in July of 02, where the car mainly sat for almost 15 months, awaiting the completion of my new engine. My original engine has a seeping head gasket, and every time I figured I'd just fix it, my engine builder told me just 2 more weeks till my engine is finished. Why do all the work if its coming out in 2 weeks I figured... That went on it seemed for ages. The car sat pretty much from July 02 to around Oct 03, when I finally received my girdled engine from DS Performance. At that time, I began removal of my original engine, installed the new engine, and all the accessories I acquired over the years. It is a very healthy, but still somewhat mild buildup. In around June 04 I finally turned the key. It fired on the 3rd shot, although my injection program was a little off. I quickly set my startup and idle parameters and it ran well. I did have an idle control problem, which I figured out when messing with the throttle body. Seems when I threw the throttle body together so I wouldn't lose anything, I put the IAC gasket in wrong. It was covering a bypass hole and that was the reason I had no control. No air was bypassing. So with that fixed, the program pretty close, I took the car on its maiden voyage to NJ DMV for its "Collector Vehicle" registration and sticker. The car is emissions exempt, which is a good thing as I don't think it would pass with the cam I used. Now the darn thing started smoking. I figure the problem to be oil in the PCV system due to the fact the inside of the intake is coated with oil pretty good. I'll get to that one of these days, but for now, I'm going to enjoy it for the rest of the summer... famous last words!!
